BMC Proposes Two Audits Every Year To Keep Mumbai Bridges Safe

The bridges in south Mumbai will undergo two audits in a year, one before and another after the monsoon, the civic body said. The BMC will spend about Rs 5 crore on structural audits of around 98 bridges, including foot overbridges (FOBs), road overbridges (ROBs), flyovers, subways and skywalks.

Heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) on 16th July caused waterlogging in several parts of the city. Waterlogging was reported from chronic spots of Dadar, Parel, Wadala, Sion, besides low-lying areas in Malad, Santacruz, Dahisar. The city has been experiencing moderate to intense spells of rain since 15th July night.
