Republic Day 2024: Watch 1500 dancers giving a message of unity at the parade

Each year, cultural performances form a part of the Republic Day parade at the Kartavya path in Delhi. This year too, on the occasion of Republic Day 2024, the Republic Day parade 2024 saw a group consisting of 1500 dancers giving the message of unity in diversity. The grand performance included 30 folk dance styles uniquely prevalent in different states of the country. 120 dancers also donned masks related to various tribal and folk performing arts and 120 dancers performed dances with traditional umbrellas and other artistic objects from Gujarat, Manipur, Kerala and Maharashtra. Earlier in the ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag at Kartavya Path.

India's defence staff perform firepower demonstration at Pokhran

 Brazilian Army General Tomas Miguel Paiva witnessed India's military capability in Rajasthan’s Pokhran. The firepower demonstration in Pokhran was carried out by the Indigenous Weapon Systems. Several Indigenous Weapon Systems including Arjun tanks and ALH Dhruv showcased their valour. The Brazilian Army General also witnessed the demonstration of Akash Missile system capabilities. Brazilian Army Commander is on a six-day visit to India from August 28 to September 2. General Tomas Miguel Mine Ribeiro Paiva’s visit underlines the deep-rooted bond between Indian, Brazilian Armies.

IIT Bombay ranks first in the country, among top 150 universities globally

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai has achieved a great milestone by coming into the world's top 150 universities in the latest edition of the QS World University Ranking released on Wednesday. QS Founder and CEO, Nunzio Quacquarelli also congratulated IIT Bombay for securing its highest rank ever and said that they've ranked 2900 institutions for this year's ranking system and there are 45 Indian universities that are appearing in the rankings.The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings that comprises the global overall and subject rankings. Earlier, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore achieved its highest rank in 2016 with a ranking of 147. According to the official statement, IIT Bombay has been ranked 1st in India and has moved significantly up from 177th rank last year to 149th rank this year in the QS World University Rankings, with an overall score of 51.7 out of 100. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar aslo expressed happiness over India's achievement.

Drugs worth 15,000 crores seized by NCB off Kochi coast originating from Pak

In what is claimed to be India’s biggest drug haul in terms of monetary value, NCB seized drugs worth 15,000 crores off the Kochi coast. The seizure was part of ‘Operation Samudragupt’ targeting maritime drug trafficking. 134 sacks of suspected Methamphetamine were recovered from a ship. As per Deputy Director-General of Narcotics Control Bureau, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the source of the drugs is Pakistan. One person, suspected to be a Pakistan national, was arrested by the agencies and an investigation is on.

Four people have been killed and around 176 people - 63 locals and 113 policemen - injured after clashes broke out between members of two communities at Dhule in north Maharashtra, official sources said.
