He had a detailed discussion on CAA in an interview on 14th March. He was asked about his stance on international media terming CAA as an "anti-muslim" law. To this, he replied, "You cannot see this law in isolation. In 1947, partition was done based on religion... Congress leaders at the time had said that people who migrated could come back anytime. But due to appeasement politics, Congress never fulfilled its promise... "

PM Modi implemented CAA on 11th of March. Spiritual leaders hailed the CAA implementation and heaped praised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 13 and said that it was a much needed law to enable the minority communities of neighboring countries to live with respect and dignity in India. Dastur Khurshed kaikobad Dastoor hailed the CAA and said, “We see it as a welcome step. The Parsis are the most miniscule community in the world. It will be of much help…that they will get citizenship in this holy land, who has always welcomed us.”Acharya Pragya Sagar Ji Maharaj said, “We welcome the CAA. For the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to say things like, population will increase (due to CAA) is wrong". Watch video for more.

China ship in Mumbai: Indian agencies suspect nuclear link in Pak-bound ship

A Pakistan-bound ship coming from China was stopped at Mumbai by the Indian security agencies on March 02. The Karachi-bound ship was intercepted at Mumbai’s Nhava Sheva port. The vessel was suspected of carrying a consignment that could be used for Pakistan’s nuclear missile programmes. The ship was thoroughly examined by a team of Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The components in the cargo ship were primarily suspected of being used in Pak’s nuclear initiatives, specifically, in manufacturing some critical components for missile development. However, the DRDO is yet to submit its final report on the vessel stopped at the port.

The German singer is known for singing songs, especially devotional ones in several Indian languages. While meeting PM Modi on Tuesday, she sang Achyutam Keshavam and a Tamil song as well. Previously, in one of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episodes, PM Modi had appreciated the singer’s passion for Indian music and culture. He was also seen praising her performance in the viral clip. This is Cassandra's first India visit. She sang two songs for PM Modi's show. Cassandra Mae Spittmann sings in many otheer languages like Kannada, Sanskrit, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Urdu, Assamese and Bengali.

INS Chennai reaches home after rescuing crew members of hijacked Bulk Carrier

INS Chennai, which rescued the hijacked Bulk Carrier MV Lila Norfolk on January 5, reached Chennai on Feb 16. On Jan 05, the Indian naval warship reached the hijacked vessel MV Lila Norfolk off Somalia coast. As many as 21 crew members, including 15 Indians were onboard the ship which was hijacked by the pirates. The Indian Navy was quick to respond and rescued all the crew members. Navy’s elite commando unit MARCOS reached the vessel and initiated the “sanitisation” process. The rescued members hailed the Indian Navy’s efforts and a timely response.

India Drone Strike: US reveals country behind attack on India-bound vessel

US Dept of Defense made a shocking claim and held Iran responsible for the India drone strike on the India-bound merchant vessel. Further, the Pentagon statement also claimed that it was the “seventh Iranian attack on commercial shipping since 2021”. A suspected drone attacked an India-bound ship in the Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast on December 23. MV Chem Pluto, a merchant ship, commenced its voyage from UAE on Dec 19 and was expected to reach New Mangalore port on Dec 25. Soon after getting hit, the merchant vessel immediately caught fire; however, no casualties have been reported so far. Notably, 20 Indians were onboard the ship during the incident that took place 217 nautical miles off the Porbandar coast. Reacting sharply to it, the Indian Navy and ICG didn’t waste any time and charged towards the MV Chem Pluto for assistance. The vessel is likely to enter Mumbai and seek escort assistance due to steering issues. Indian Coast Guard Ship Vikram will be escorting the ship during its passage. The Indian Coast Guard Operations Centre is monitoring the situation closely.

India Drone Strike: Navy unveils drone attack images on India-bound ship

Days after the drone attack on merchant vessel MV Chem Pluto on Dec 23, the vessel safely reached Mumbai on Dec 25. Soon the vessel reached Mumbai, latest images emerging from the vessel showed the damage caused by the drone attack. The merchant ship, MV Chem Pluto reached Mumbai for damage assessment, repair, and maintenance. Analysis was carried out by Indian Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Team followed by a joint investigation by various agencies. MV Chem Pluto, with 20 Indian and one Vietnamese crew member on Dec 23 caught fire after it was attacked by a suspected drone. The merchant vessel commenced its voyage from the UAE on Dec 19 and was bound for New Mangalore port with an arrival date of Dec 25. Soon after the India drone attack, the Indian Navy deployed multiple Guided Missile Destroyers in various areas of the Arabian Sea. Indian Navy deployed INS Mormugao, INS Kochi, and INS Kolkata to maintain deterrence. Meanwhile, MV Chem Pluto has been cleared for further operation by its company-in-charge in Mumbai. Houthi forces in Yemen have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, claiming the attacks as revenge against Israel. Meanwhile, India, a strong advocate for the free movement of commercial shipping, is monitoring these attacks.

Chandrayaan-3 completes fifth and final lunar bound manoeuvre

India’s ambitious lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 is moving closer to the Moon. ISRO has informed that all the lunar bound manoeuvres of the spacecraft have been completed successfully. Today’s successful firing, needed for a short duration, has put Chandrayaan-3 into an orbit of 153 km x 163 km. Now, the separation of the Lander Module from the Propulsion Module is planned for August 17, 2023. If successful with the Chandrayaan-3 mission, India will likely become the first country to reach the less explored south pole of Moon. Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft aims to make a soft landing on Moon’s surface on August 23. The historic lift-off of Chandrayaan-3 was witnessed on July 14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. Chandrayaan-3 is ISRO's follow-up attempt after Chandrayaan-2 faced challenges during its soft landing on the lunar surface in 2019.
