Union Earth Science Minister Kiren Rijiju participated in the beach cleaning program at Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai on June 08. The beach cleaning program was organized to mark World Oceans Day. While talking to the media, Minister Rijiju said, “We have gathered here not only to clean the beaches but also to send a loud and clear message on this World Ocean Day, on how to keep our beaches clean.”
Rahul Gandhi’s statement during his visit to the United States has drawn BJP’s ire. During an address in the US, Gandhi said that “Muslims in India are facing the same scenario what Dalits were facing in 1980s". Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on March 15 held a press conference and condemned Rahul Gandhi for his remarks he made in London about India’s democracy. Kiren Rijiju said that no one has any right to abuse the nation. “If Rahul Gandhi says something and Congress gets into trouble because of that, we have nothing to do with it. But if he defames our country, then as the citizens of this country, we can’t be quiet,” said Union Minister Rijiju. “Rahul Gandhi must apologise for what he said in his London seminar. He has insulted our democracy, judiciary & nation. We must our raise voice against those who speak against our nation,” he added.
