Anupamaa actor, Rituraj Singh passed away on February 20, 2024 at the age of 59 due to cardiac arrest. His last rites took place in Mumbai on February 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth on February 12 witnessed the launch of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, and also RuPay card services in Mauritius, via video conferencing. The launch will enable the availability of UPI settlement services for Indian nationals travelling to Sri Lanka and Mauritius as well as for Mauritian nationals travelling to India. The extension of RuPay card services in Mauritius will enable Mauritian banks to issue cards based on the RuPay mechanism in Mauritius and facilitate usage of RuPay Card for settlements both in India and Mauritius.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Interim Budget 2024-25 today. This is her 6th consecutive budget presentation. In her interim Budget 2024 speech, she announced that there will be no change in the tax structure. “I do not propose to make any changes relating to the taxation and propose to retain the same tax rates for direct and indirect taxes including import duties”. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her interim Budget speech. She announced proposals for making improvements in the tax-payers services for ensuring ease in living and ease of business. She also proposed to withdraw all pending tax demands up to ₹25,000 till 2009-10 and ₹10,000 till 2014-15; benefiting 1 crore tax payers.
