West Indian's 45 in 13 balls helps Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils by 39 runs
Delhi Daredevils squandered a good chance to seal a semi-final berth as they suffered a 39-run loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians for their third consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday.

Chasing 184, Daredevils were restricted to 144 for seven in 20 overs after losing six wickets for just 48 runs. Australian Andrew McDonald was the top scorer with an unbeaten 33 while opener David Warner made a 15-ball 31.u00a0
After the loss, Daredevils stayed at the third spot with 12 points from 12 matches while Mumbai Indians, who have already qualified for the semi-final, are still on top with 18 points from 12 matches.u00a0
Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians made a slow but steady start with Sachin Tendulkar (30) and Saurabh Tiwari (38) coming up with useful contributions. But it was the late burst from Keiron Pollard, who hit an unbeaten 13-ball 45, that helped Mumbai Indians get 75 runs in the last five overs and got to a total of 183 for four in 20 overs.
While chasing, Daredevils batsmen had only themselves to blame as they all got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. Warner and Virender Sehwag (20) took Dardevils to a flying start. Warner smashed Zaheer Khan for two fours and a six in the third over and in the next over hit Dilhara Fernando for two fours. Warner perished after he failed to read a slower one from Fernando, in the same over, and Murtaza took a good catch running backwards at mid-off.u00a0
Sehwag, who was dropped on five by Murtaza, and Gautam Gambhir (17) then added 33 runs for the second wicket. Gambhir and Sehwag departed in quick succession for just three runs -- and the Daredevils continued to lose wickets at regular intervals to finally fall short by 39 runs.u00a0
Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians scored briskly in the last 10 overs, during which they scored 117 runs. Jean Paul Dumminy (21 not out) and Pollard added 50 runs in the last 18 balls as the table toppers got to a challenging total. Pollard hammered McDonald for three sixes and a four as 25 runs came off the last over.
