The assumption that the 23-year-old TCS employee had eloped with her boyfriend comes to naught as Esther Anuhya's friend is traced to Andhra Pradesh. Cops from Mumbai and Hyderabad are now probing her disappearance
A day after MiD DAY reported the mysterious disappearance of Esther Anuhya, a Mumbai-based software engineer, the cops managed to trace her male friend in Andhra Pradesh, putting an end to the theory that she had eloped with the youth.
Anuhya has been missing since January 4 when she last spoke to her father at 9 pm before boarding a train from her native Hyderabad, to come back to Mumbai.
Police officials are now questioning her office colleagues as well, some of whom claimed that Anuhya’s behaviour had changed since December. She had reportedly cut her hair very short and become extremely quiet and withdrawn.
Anuhya is employed with the Goregaon branch of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) since October 2013. Earlier she was placed with their Powai branch. The software engineer had boarded the Vishakhapatnam Express on January 4, to return to Mumbai and resume work after a long Christmas vacation. Somewhere during this train journey, she disappeared.
Cops from two states are now searching for her with the additional commissioner of police from Hyderabad also in Mumbai in this connection.
Cops are also questioning taxi and rickshaw drivers outside the LTT station where the train terminates and they have also handed out a copy of the woman’s photograph to informers.
