Touted as the thinking woman's sex symbol, actor Irrfan celebrates his 47th birthday today.

>> Actor Irrfan’s full name is Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan.
>> Born into a wealthy conservative Muslim family, his dad Jagirdar Khan used to deal in tyres. He has two brothers, Imran Khan and Salman Khan and one sister Rukhsana Begum.
>> In his final year at the National School of Drama (NSD), he was cast as a letter writer in Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay (1988). But his role was trimmed to a cameo by the time the film got released in theatres.
>> He is the recipient of Padma Shri (2011), the fourth highest civilian award in India. He also secured the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2012 for his performance in Paan Singh Tomar.
>> On February 23, 1995, Irrfan married writer Sutapa Sikdar who is also an NSD graduate. They have two children named Babil and Aryan.
>> Recently, he changed his name to Irrfan. He said that he likes the sound of the extra ‘r’ in his name.
>> It is said that he stays awake till three in the morning, taking notes and trying to understand ways to play his character.
>> In 2011, Irrfan was announced as part of the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), director Marc Webb’s reboot of the popular superhero movie franchise.
