Officersu00a0of the state Anti-Terrorism Squad interrogated the father and brother of Shaikh Lalbaba Mohammed Hussain alias Bilal (27), the alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who is a co-accused in the German Bakery blast.
They were interrogated to find out the source of the suspected foreign funding to Bilal. Bilal's documents, including his ration card and bank statements, were also inspected.

An ATS team from Nashik visited Bilal's home town, Hotgi, on Saturday afternoon and called his father Mohammad Hussain Shaikh and brother Sameer for interrogation at the Gram Panchayat office. ATS sources said a team led by Assistant Inspector Kad from the Nashik unit inspected Bilal's house prior to the interrogation.

"Besides ration cards and property documents, Bilal's bank passbooks and Sameer's passport were scrutinised by the ATS officers during the interrogation. Details of Bilal's bank transactions were checked for any foreign funding received by him," said an ATS official.

Inglorious past
Bilal was arrested in Nashik on September 7 for possessing RDX and conspiring to carry out terror attacks there. He had allegedly done recces of the Deolali Camp of the army as well as the Maharashtra Police Academy besides religious places in and around Nashik.

He had assumed a fake identity and went by the name of Prashant three months prior to his arrest. He was working as a lathe machine operator in the Satpur industrial area.

Bilal allegedly also had links with Mirza Himayat Baig, the prime suspect of the German Bakery blast. The duo came in contact on the Azam Campus in Pune around 2006 and Bilal went to Karachi for arms training in 2008. He returned to India in January this year.
