Because now, as we spoke, the environs were crammed with all manner of beautiful things. Funky leather rockers, coffee tables groaning with exquisite bric-a-brac, sofa sets galore, and a King’s ransom of candle stands and lampshades. “Every thing you see here is either designed by me or curated from all over the world. And the price range is really reasonable,” said the attractive star wife, known for her international design sensibility.

It was the preview launch of Design Cell, Khan’s latest home décor intervention and this time it was the other side of the Sea- Link, located in the Raghuvanshi Mills compound, which is now officially the mid-city go to place for home décor solutions. Khan’s pals, Noblesse’s Superna Motwane and DNA’s Shreyasi Goenka had hosted a preview dekho and invited all their friends to come see the store over canapés and wine.
The place was brimming with so many women that it was difficult getting in. We spotted Motwane’s mom Rani Kapur with friend Sheila Pasricha, style scribe Gayatri Rangachari Shah and a few other friends, checking out the wares.
The verdict? Beautiful. But another trip would be required when things got a bit calmer and serious browsing could be undertaken.
“Are you going to be spending more time this side?” we asked Gauri, only half jokingly.
“Not really. Retail isn’t really my thing,” she said. What she didn’t add, of course, was that a certain Mr SRK and his kids located on the other side of town required her attention too.
Growing up with the blues

And as usual, the finale was a dinner hosted by Neelam and Vickram Sethi and Mala and Harsh Goenka this Saturday at the RPG House where the cognoscenti could meet and exchange thoughts with the artists under the stars and amidst stunning art works.
Of Pink and Navy

“For the Bistronomie dinner, one can expect to find fuchsia walls with Holi inspired patterns, a medley of grand ballroom-esque chandeliers, perforated metal thalis mixed with shiny white porcelain and Rajasthani puppets that feel human with their flowing turbans,” says the lovely Ahluwalia, fast becoming a fashion icon herself.
But the highlight, of course, is her mother designer Jamini Ahluwalia’s oversized gypsy jewels.
