BCCI pours more heat on Lalit Modi

Lalit Modi was not just told he is not needed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. At the BCCI AGM yesterday, Modi was ousted as BCCI vice-president and he will, in president Shashank Manohar's words, not be able to 'even call himself suspended IPL chairman' after Chirayu Amin was elected chairman.

When asked if this means Modi will not be able to return to the BCCI, Manohar said: "He can come like you have and ask questions."

Manohar also went to elaborate how Modi has been involved in several scams.

"During the IPL, three security trucks were hired and a contract was entered into with Visual Impact, a company supplying trucks for eight years. About five days earlier, a person came to our office and told us that the trucks were actually hired from his company for Rs 1.5 crore and they have only been paid Rs 70 lakh. He provided us with all the necessary details we asked for. Yesterday, someone from Visual Impact came to us and when I asked him, he finally gave me in writing that he is willing to refund Rs 3.5 crore.

"Even with Bandelier watches (official IPL watch), we got a mail from them saying we have had huge losses since we only sold 35 watches and 24 of them were taken by Modi and were not paid for."
