The 40-year-old actor said that if a person was not religious, they could look at it as one man's freedom fighter could be another man's terrorist, CBS News reported.

The necessity for empires to exist was that they must have actually a hierarchy among people, whether that's spoken or unspoken and it's fascinating because it's very human and Moses was a far more human and fallible character than he had imagined before, he further added.

The 'The Dark Knight' star found Moses a complicated man, and didn't want his version of the biblical hero in the movie 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' to be too haughty.

To prepare for his role as Moses in 'Exodus: Gods and Kings,' Bale watched Monty Python's 'The Life of Brian' and Mel Brooks' 'History of the World, Part One.'
