Don't target Jadeja, says Dhoni

Wonder whether Ravindra Jadeja suffers from stage pangs. For, this is the second World T20 tournament he has come up with a flop show. Yesterday, he not only dropped Shivnarine Chanderpaul at short cover off Yusuf Pathan but he also leaked runs when he bowled his brand of left-arm spin.

However, his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni does not want to see the young Saurashtra all-rounder targeted.

"We just didn't play well enough," added Dhoni, who stressed that the gruelling Indian Premier League played no role in India's probable ouster. Like in the game against Australia, the Indians didn't prosper against the rising delivery. "The world knows that they are vulnerable to the short ball and I adopted those tactics. You have to prepare mentally for pace," said Gayle.

The Jamaican suggested that the Indians should have been better prepared for their Caribbean challenge. "When you come to the West Indies, you have to come with some level of confidence; you have to be well prepared to face the quick stuff," he said.

He also attributed yesterday's win to the introspectionu00a0 his team indulged in after their loss to Sri Lanka. "We sat down and told ourselves that we have to raise our game. I am glad we did," said Gayle.
