The U-17 FIFA football team of Ghana not only have a craze for the sport, but also a certain Indian television series too - KumKum Bhagya!

The U-17 football team of Ghana not only have a craze for the sport, but also a certain Indian television series too. As soon as the Ghana U-17 team learnt that they would be travelling to Mumbai for the pre-quarterfinal game, their excitement knew no bounds. They apparently targetted a trip to Film City on their to-do list. KumKum Bhagya, the Indian television soap opera apparently has a major fan following in Ghana.

According to Indian Express, Kwadwo Agyemang, board chairman of the Ghana National Sports Authority said, We want to meet and take photos with some of the actors, and even the producer, anyone will do. We don’t mind even if it is for five minutes.'


'KumKum Bhagya', which is part of Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms has been aired in Ghana since 2015 and has also been dubbed in the local Ghana language, that is Twi. The U-17 Ghana football team reportedly try to keep pace with the serial whenever they are not on the football field by live streaming it.

They can stream it from the Ghana website on their phones to get the translated version, but we have confiscated their phones so they don’t get distracted. I watch the show, so they keep asking me what is happening, said Agyemang. He further said, I started watching when my four-year-old son told me, ‘Daddy, see, Pragya is in trouble’. So I sat down to see who this Pragya was and I was hooked.'
