Harris Shield: Trio power Anjuman Islam to 187-run win

A STELLAR bowling performance by medium pacer Anzar Mirza (6-8) along with half centuries from Devraj Rangu and Yusuf Wadiwala helped Anjuman Islam Allana English High School (CST) register a mammoth 187-run win over Abhinav Vidya Mandir (Borivli)

A Stellar bowling performance by medium pacer Anzar Mirza (6-8) along with half centuries from Devraj Rangu and Yusuf Wadiwala helped Anjuman Islam Allana English High School (CST) register a mammoth 187-run win over Abhinav Vidya Mandir (Borivli) in the Harris Shield U-16 Div 'C' match at Oval Maidan yesterday.


On a flat track, Anjuman scored 259 thanks to Devraj (90, 93 balls, 8x4) and Yusuf ( 55, 68 balls, 2x4), who stitched a 72-run partnership, for the sixth wicket. For the Borivli outfit Shubham Jagdhane (2-35), Vedant Mhatre (2-45) and off-spinner Bhavesh Patel (2-79) were the top performers with the ball.


Abhinav Vidya Mandir, in their reply, succumbed to pressure and were bowled out for 72. Anjuman's Anzar put on a disciplined bowling effort. Anzar was well-supported by leg-spinner Smit Dave, who claimed 3 for 5.

Parikshit shines with seven
In another contest, spinner Parikshit Dhanak powered Oxford Public School's (Kandivli) to a six-wicket win over Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Marathi (Vile Parle) in a Div 'C' match.

The leg-spinner bagged seven for 38 as Oxford bowled out Parle Tilak for 112. Kaustubh Betkar top-scored with 21 for the Vile Parle school. Oxford Public School comprehensively chased down the target, thanks to Ryan Castelino's 28.  For the Vile Parle school, leg spinner Pratham More bagged two wickets.

Vedprakash misses ton
In a Div 'B' match, IES VN Sule Guruji English (Dadar), riding on half centuries from Vedprakash Jaiswal, Shubham Girkar and skipper Aayush Zimare beat Gopi Birla Memorial School (Malabar Hill) by 293 runs at Cross Maidan.

Opener Vedprakash (96) and Shubham Girkar (90) helped Sule Guruji post 371 for five after electing to bat. Zimare contributed 77.
While chasing, Gopi Birla were skittled out for 78. Left-arm spinner Aayush returned with figures of 4 for 7 while Vikrant Bandekar claimed 3 for 23.

Al Barkaat's massive win
In another match at Cross Maidan, a collective batting effort helped Al Barkaat MMI English School (Kurla) clinch a 233-run win over Fatima High School (Vidyavihar).

Al Barkaat's Himanshu Singh scored an unbeaten 47, while Nisar Shaikh hit 43 as the Kurla school posted 315. For the Vidyavihar outfit, off-spinner Aayush Bidwai claimed 7 for 107. In reply, Fatima High School were bowled out for 82. Sandeep Palav, who scored a double ton in the last match, could manage only 16 in this game.  Mansoor Saud (4 for 6) was the pick of the bowlers for Al Barkaat.
