I fear robots will kill us all in the near future, says Christine Lampard

Former England footballer Frank Lampard's wife Christine has a phobia of robots.

The Irish TV presenter, 38, has said that ever since she watched the 1987 Hollywood hitflick Robocop -- the story of a dead police officer and resurrected as a cyborg -- she is convinced that one day the world will be taken over by machine men and women who will kill everyone.

"I have an irrational fear of robots. I watched Robocop when I was five, clearly too young to be watching it, and then I had this terrible fear of robots taking over and us having no control over them. My fear is that they will kill us eventually.... but it's looking like the future," she said during a discussion about robots on British TV show Loose Women yesterday.

She also is wary about using automated machines when she goes shopping as she believes these gadgets are stealing people's jobs. "You know when you go to shops and they have self-service machines, I don't use them. I'd rather go to a person because I think that's like doing you out of a job," she said.
