Southampton Police Sgt. Todd Spencer said that the teen popstar would be part of the investigation to see whether he directed his bodyguards to beat up 22-year-old Wayne Rennalls, the New York Post reported.
According to a source, the fight started after a waitress, who had borrowed a bowtie from Rennalls started to leave with the ‘Baby’ hitmaker and Rennalls went after them to get the bowtie back.
The source added that everyone thought the fight was over, but it escalated when Bieber was heard yelling and screaming “like he was in Die Hard” at Rennalls.
Rennalls then picked up a small rock and threw it when he thought something was thrown at him.
Rennalls, who suffered a black eye, a busted lip and bruised ribs was hospitalized, after which he filed an assault claim the next day.
Another male clubgoer was also knocked out in the incident. Reps for Bieber have insisted the singer was not involved in the incident.
