MSSA football: Don Bosco beat Scottish to retain Utpal Sanghvi U-14 title

MSSA football: Don Bosco beat Scottish to retain Utpal Sanghvi U-14 title

Riding on goals from Harsh Naik, Keith Fernandes and Rom Padelkar, Don Bosco High School (Matunga) beat Bombay Scottish High School (Mahim) 3-0 to clinch the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised inter-school boys under-14 Utpal Sanghvi knock-out title for the sixth time in a row at Azad Maidan yesterday. Bosco boys dominate The dominant Matunga outfit opened the scoring in the third minute when right-winger Harsh found the net after an assist from Karsten D'Souza. Keith doubled the lead in the 11th minute for the Matunga outfit.

The Bosco boys' domination continued as left-winger Rom then made it 3-0 in the 21st minute. After switching sides, Bombay Scottish went all out in search of goals, but luck did not favour the the mahim lads. The Bosco boys put up a solid defence and emerged comfortable winners. Don Bosco coach Mohan Pillay was elated with the win. "It's a very good feeling to win Utpal Sanghvi for the sixth time. We are proud of the boys. They gave their best today," said Pillay.

Christ Church finish third In another contest, a brace by midfielder Ahmed Khan coupled with goals from striker Muhammed Jasdanwala and midfielder Hamza Kapadia helped Christ Church School (Byculla) beat St Mary's ICSE (Mazgaon) 4-1 to win the third-place match. Arjun Jalan scored the lone goal for St Mary's.
