Parth scores ton in Don Bosco (Matunga) win

Splendid batting performances from Parth Phatak (111*), Tanish Hirlekar (71) and Shreyash Jadhav (59*) helped Don Bosco (Matunga) win by a 296-run margin against SVKM JV Parekh International School (Vile Parle) in the Harris Shield at Cross Maidan yesterday. Don Bosco amassed 332 for two. The Vile Parle team were penalised 52 runs as their bowlers were unable to finish off their 45 overs in the given time.

Thus, Don Bosco's revised score at the end of 41 overs was 384-2.


Parth's unbeaten 111 came off just 72 balls which included 16 fours.

Chasing a huge target, the Parekh side collapsed for a mere 88. Ashutosh Kochhar top-scored with 23 as Don Bosco's medium pacer Vijit Pujari snapped up 4-40 in his eight overs.

Moin shines for Rizvi
Medium pacer Moin Khan's exceptional figures of 7-10 in nine overs helped Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) win by 10 wickets against GD Somani Memorial School (Cuffe Parade). GD Somani were bundled out for a mere 35. Left arm spinner Farhan Shaikh claimed three wickets. In reply, the Bandra team chased down the target in 3.3 overs.

Balmohan beat Balmohan
Off-spinner Atharva Chavan (5-64) and leg-spinner Nisarg Bhuwad (3-30) helped last year's semi-finalists Balmohan Vidyamandir (Marathi) beat Balmohan Vidyamandir (English) by seven wickets. Batting first, Balmohan (English) scored 131 with Athang Munankar top-scoring with 33.

In reply, Balmohan (Marathi) scored 134-3 courtesy Prathamesh Satpute's 48 not out and Atharva Chavan's 37.

 

Sanmesh leads from front
Sanmesh Ambekar led from the front with a brilliant all-round show to seal a 11-run victory for Saraswati Mandir HS (Mahim) against Don Bosco (Borivli) in a low-scoring Round Three match at Shivaji Park yesterday.

Electing to bat, Saraswati Mandir were struggling at 15 for two when Sanmesh came in to bat. He stitched a valuable 37-run partnership for the third wicket with Akul Dhanu (11). Eventually, Saraswati Mandir were bowled out for 115. Sanmesh was top-scorer with 45. Praval Sankhe claimed four for 19 for Don Bosco.

Sanmesh (8 for 33) was in the thick of the action again when his hat-trick helped bowl out Don Bosco for 104.

Arnav, Sumeir dominate

In another Round Three match at Shivaji Park, a scintillating ton by skipper Sumeir Zaveri and a hat-trick by pacer Arnav Bakshi helped Cathedral and John Connon (Fort) beat IES School (Charkop) by 144 runs. Put in to bat, Cathedral were struggling at 18 for two when Sumeir took the charge of the IES bowling attack and plundered 174 (23x4, 2x6) as Cathedral posted 288 for eight. While chasing, IES were skittled out for 144. Right-arm pacer Arnav claimed four for eight.
