Garfield says the pacifist superhero is much like the Father of our Nation, as he doesn’t believe in throwing a punch. Andrew explains, “Growing up, my imagination was captured by him (Gandhi). I was a kid being bullied in school. I didn’t understand where the bullying was coming from.

One of the people I drew hope from was Mahatma Gandhi, along with Spider-Man. He is an important symbol to me, everything he stood for, his peacefulness and his spirit, he was an inspiration for me. Maybe Spiderman was inspired by Gandhi.”
