Diwali 2023: Ayodhya All Decked Up With 24 Lakh Lamps Set To Illuminate The City

Diwali 2023: Ayodhya has been illuminated ahead of Diwali. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, with its variations also celebrated in other Indian religions. It symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".  Diwali is observed on Amavasya (or the new moon), the 15th day of the month of Kartik, every year. This year, Diwali will be celebrated on November 12. The city is fully geared up for its seventh Deepotsav, with over 24 lakh lamps set to illuminate the city. The Guinness Book of World Records team has initiated the lamp count at 51 ghats in the presence of the supervisor, ghat in-charge, coordinator, and counting volunteers.

Hindu festival of lights, Diwali, is just around the corner and demand for the article goes up during this time of the year. In holy city of Varanasi, potters are making more than 1,000 lamps in a day to meet the surge in demand. These potters otherwise make clay utensils. However, the demand of clay lamps or diyas has been steadily decreasing over the years with the advent of cheap and decorative LED lights in the markets. The ages old festival of Diwali marks the homecoming of Hindu god, Lord Rama, after an exile of 14 years. On this day, people illuminate their houses with different types of lamps and lights. Fireworks displays and exchange of gifts and sweets with friends and family are an integral part of the festival celebration
