Oscars 2024: Christopher Nolan’s historic epic based on J Robert Oppenheimer bagged seven statuettes at the 96th Academy Awards held at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, on Sunday. Of the 13 nominations, Oppenheimer won Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Director trophies for Nolan. Tovino Thomas' Malayalam film, 2018, has been chosen as India's official entry to the 96th Academy Awards. The survival drama based on the 2018 Kerala floods was directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and released earlier this year. A jury headed by noted director Girish Kasaravalli on Wednesday announced that 2018 has been India's selection for the Oscars in the Best International Film category. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the India-Japan Forum 2023 with his Japanese Counterpart in New Delhi on July 28. During the question-answer session, EAM was asked to dance with Japanese FM on the iconic ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR. To this, EAM S Jaishankar jokingly said that he would not dance with Japan’s Foreign Minister. Both Jaishankar and Hayashi were asked about their favourite movies from each other’s countries. To this, Hayashi said that he loves the movie RRR. Then he was asked to dance with Dr S Jaishankar. Reacting to it, EAM Jaishankar jokingly said that he would not dance with him (Yoshimasa Hayashi).
