Favourites Brazil crash out of FIFA U-17 World Cup after Rhian Brewster bags second hat-trick of the tournament to help England win 3-1 and enter final

FIFA U-17 World Cup: England shock favourites Brazil 3-1 to enter final

The omen of beginning a tournament with an own goal continued for Brazil in this FIFAâu00c2u0080u00c2u0088U-17 World Cup too. Marcelo did so in the 2014 World Cup against Croatia and Brazil had to bow out to the eventual champions Germany in the semi-final 1-7. Three years later, Wesley scored an own goal versus Spain in Kochi and the journey for the Paulinhos and Lincolns ended in the Last-4 again, losing 1-3 to England. Rhian Brewster completed his second and back-to-back hat-trick to earn a first final in the U-17 World Cup for England.

They continued their newly found love story with Kolkata, an earlier capital to the British empire in this country, by defeating the crowds' favourite in the Salt Lake Stadium, a new Wembley for England, where they will be playing sixth of their seven matches in the tournament on Saturday. Brazil will rue a missed chance in the 30th minute when Brenner could have earned them a crucial 2-1 lead. Vitao sent a long ball to set him free, but a costly miss from the Brazilian forward, gave England time to reorganise and take the lead for the second time. Sessegnon reached byline to send the ball back in the six-yard box and Brewster, the product of English Premier League club Liverpool FC, obliged with his sixth strike of the competition.

Earlier, in the 10th minute, it was Callum Hudson Odoi's cross to Brewster whose shot was initially blocked by Brazao, but on the rebound, he made no mistake. Brazil equalised for the third time in the tournament when Wesley put the ball in from a rebound of a Paulinho shot saved by the English goalkeeper Curtis Anderson. Tactically, the Little Canaries repeated the same mistake of leaving the flank-doors open for the English midfielders, as they did against the Germans. The only difference is, the English colts exploited the weakness better and their tantalising three low crosses paved the way for three goals.

On the 77th minute, Foden had a decent run to pass to the substitute Smith Rowe whose cross left the Brazil defence shattered and a completely unmarked. Brewster completed his second hat-trick after the USA match in the quarter-final. With the U-20 World Cup in their cabinet already and 18 goals in the tournament, Steven Cooper's England will be the favourites in the final on October 28.
