London: England football players could have been secretive over their trips to exquisite destinations post the World Cup failure, but they chose to declare it to the world and faced the wrath of fans.

English fans’ reaction was expected after Roy Hodgson’s England made a first-round from the World Cup in Brazil. England skipper Steven Gerrard riled fans after posting a number of pictures of his family trip with wife Alex and kids at a secret destination.

The 34-year-old was pictured posing on the sand with the caption: “Nice day on the beach with my girls” before adding they were taking a break from sunbathing to enjoy a golf lesson. One supporter, named Tommy, commented on the photo: “Cost Liverpool the title, cost England the World Cup. Overrated.”
