Melbourne: Skipper Eoin Morgan has taken a swipe at Test great Geoff Boycott over his trenchant criticism of him and the England team at the World Cup in Australia.
Boycott believes England's one-day captain is not good enough against the world's best bowlers and described England's 111-run loss to Australia in their tournament opener as "bloody stupid" and "brainless".
Morgan, who was dismissed for his his fourth duck in his last seven one-day international innings against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, was asked about Boycott's criticism at his post-match media conference.
"Geoffrey tends to be critical 24/7, and I actually don't know if people ... well, certainly people within the team, it falls on deaf ears," Morgan said. Senior fast bowler James Anderson also hit out at Boycott before the game over his criticism of Morgan's batting. "It's rich coming from him," Anderson said.
