70-year-old Telugu actor and dubbing artiste P J Sarma died of a heart attack on Sunday in Hyderaba.

Sarma, who had been unwell for some time now, passed away at his residence here this morning, film industry sources said.

In a career spanning several decades, Sarma was known for his character roles and as a dubbing artiste.

He worked for about 500 films as the dubbing artiste and lent his voice to several veteran south Indian actors like Gemini Ganesan.

His eldest son Sai Kumar is a famous south Indian actor and also a dubbing artiste.

Sarma's other sons Ravishankar and Ayyappa Sarma are also popular artistes and technicians in the film industry.

Sarma's grandson Aadi (son of Sai Kumar), an upcoming actor in the Telugu film industry, got married yesterday.

Condoling the death of Sarma, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said he had a gifted voice that made him work for 500 films as a dubbing artiste, according to a state government release.
Actor-turned-politician and former Union Minister Chiranjeevi called on Sai Kumar and consoled him.
