Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal was declared 'dead' on social media yesterday and had to clear the air by posting a message on Twitter. Akmal, who does not feature in the Pakistan national cricket team, informed his Twitter followers of his well-being. "I am safe n perfectly fine in Lahore all news coming from social media is fake," he wrote.

News of Akmal's death began after a report named him among the dead victims following a protest in Islamabad that drew a violent response from the army.
