BIMTECH Students Lead 2025 with Campus Crypto, Rural Tech Innovation & UN Recognition

Dr. Prabina Rajib

In a candid conversation with Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director of Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) Greater Noida, 2025 emerged as a year where purpose met progress. From investing ₹2 crore in AI-driven startups to hosting over 100 budding ventures, the campus buzzed with entrepreneurial energy. Students made their mark on the global stage, winning sustainability awards at the UN. On the ground, initiatives like BIMCOIN brought blockchain learning to life, while rural women gained digital access through outreach programs. With the launch of the DIGI-SUSTEACH Centre and global partnerships with Austria, Bhutan, and Nepal, Birla Institute of Management Technology opened new doors to learning. Whether through art workshops or tech conferences, the institute continued to blend innovation with empathy-staying rooted in values while reaching out to the world.

1. How did BIMTECH’s 2025 efforts in AI, rural digital equity, and global sustainability ignite a human-centered revolution in learning?

In 2025 BIMTECH’s AIC-BIMTECH was the hotspot of innovation, sustainability and global connect. At Google’s AI Day for Startups at IIT Delhi, AIC-BIMTECH wowed the audience with AI possibilities and its incubator invested ₹2 crore in startups like CreditSiddhi and Cunomial and ignited the entrepreneurial spirit of India. In a similar event organized at the Institute’s campus, AIC-BIMTECH hosted over 100 startups, drawing participation across India.

BIMTECH students made a mark globally, team “BIMTECH-UFE” won PRME Global Students Sustainability Awards at UN Headquarters in New York for their bold sustainable solutions. Back home the institute’s National Seminar focused on digital access for rural women as the cornerstone of India’s 2047 vision and the new DIGI-SUSTEACH Centre spread the word of circular economies across Asia and Europe.

BIMTECH’s Rural Immersion Programme brought students face to face with grassroot challenges and real change and a tie-up with Austria’s FH Vorarlberg opened doors to rich cross cultural business lessons. VIHAAN’25 student fest was full of youthful energy and creativity and was the culmination of a year of fearless and inclusive steps towards a better future.

2. How will initiatives like BIMCOIN enhance the student learning experience in blockchain, digital finance, and real-world fintech applications?

In 2025, BIMTECH’s BIMCOIN initiative is revolutionizing how students dive into the fast-evolving world of blockchain, digital finance, and fintech. As cryptocurrencies and digital wallets eclipse cash, BIMCOIN offers a hands-on sandbox where students don’t just study blockchain-they live it. By weaving a digital currency into campus life, the program thrusts learners into real-world applications, demystifying tokenization, blockchain protocols, and cybersecurity through everyday transactions. This bold, immersive approach swaps stale lectures for dynamic engagement, equipping students with the financial literacy and tech-savvy edge needed to thrive in a digitized economy.

3. With increasing emphasis on global exposure and cultural competence, what steps are being taken to promote international collaborations, student exchange programs, and global learning opportunities?

Building on our Birla legacy we have been able to successfully form meaningful industry networks both nationally and internationally. Recently we held “India Study Program”, under which we welcomed students from Austria for cross-cultural knowledge expansion. We are also working with neighbouring nations like Bhutan and Nepal to strengthen cross-border innovation.  Apart from making our students culturally sound, such initiatives also present opportunities to create global networks, enhance intercultural communication skills and develop global mind set. Moreover, we have been internationally accredited by AACSB to stand at par with educational institutions from across the globe.

BIMTECH also admits international students for its PGDM program and also through exchange programs with partner universities abroad. The institute offers academic, cultural, and residential support, aiming to create a diverse learning environment.

4. How did BIMTECH’s DEA 2024, Paresh Maity’s art workshop, and global trade-climate programs spark interdisciplinary innovation in 2025?

In 2025, BIMTECH continued its trailblazing journey by fostering innovation, creativity, and global dialogue through transformative initiatives. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) 2024 conference brought together global experts to explore cutting-edge applications of DEA, reinforcing BIMTECH’s leadership in analytical research and its impact on business efficiency. Complementing its academic rigor, BIMTECH bridged art and business through an inspiring workshop led by Padma Shri Paresh Maity, where students and faculty explored the intersection of creativity and commerce, enriching their perspectives on innovation. Beyond the classroom, BIMTECH immersed students in the complexities of international trade and climate policy, equipping them with practical insights into global challenges through experiential learning. These initiatives underscored BIMTECH’s commitment to blending academic excellence, creative exploration, and real-world engagement, shaping future leaders poised to address multifaceted global issues.
