Shanu’s family ran a small contracting business in Rampur, and he aspired to take it forward not just nationally, but internationally. With a keen interest in design and project management, Shanu was determined to carry forward the family legacy while creating a new identity; FocusOn Interiors, which has become a recognised name in India’s design and build segment.

He started with very humble beginnings in 2016, when his first project was to create an office space for a small start-up in Dilshad Garden with very limited resources.
“That first project taught me the power of design thinking,” he recalls. “It wasn’t about expensive materials or large spaces, it was about creating energy, mood, and identity.” The result was a vibrant workspace that reflected the start-up’s brand ethos, marking the beginning of his career and the foundation of FocusOn Interiors.
The firm currently offers in-house services, from interior fit-outs and general contracting to remodelling, refurbishment, project management, and execution oversight. The team handles everything end-to-end such as joinery, lighting, furniture, finishes, and construction. This in-house execution model gives complete design control and seamless delivery, and distinguishes FocusOn Interiors from traditional contracting firms.

Each project presents a new challenge, from understanding a brand’s unique culture to creating environments that fuel productivity. For instance, in Infosys BPM’s Gurgaon office, the design team crafted a biophilic environment integrating natural light, greenery, and flexible collaboration zones to boost employee well-being. For L&T Financial Services and Piramal Housing Finance, the focus was on efficiency, clean layouts, intuitive movement, and material harmony that blends with the brand essence.
Today, the firm has a versatile portfolio and a wide footprint across India. Major projects include Unacademy (225,000 sq. ft., Pan India), Krsnaa Diagnostics (1.75 million sq. ft., Pan India), IDP Education (200,000 sq. ft., Pan India), Zomato (205,000 sq. ft., Pan India), L&T Financial Services (125,000 sq. ft., Navi Mumbai), and Luminous Haridwar (65,000 sq. ft.), among many others.
