In a groundbreaking health initiative, Seema Singh, founder of Meghashrey NGO, has launched the ambitious ‘Cervical Cancer Free India’ campaign, which has already benefited more than 10 lakh women and adolescent girls across India. The campaign, aimed at spreading awareness, promoting early detection, and improving menstrual hygiene, is one of the largest of its kind led by a social organization.
Understanding the silent but deadly nature of cervical cancer, Singh has made education and early intervention the cornerstone of her mission. As part of the campaign, awareness drives and health education programs were held in over 20 BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) schools, directly engaging young girls with critical knowledge about reproductive health, HPV, and the importance of vaccination and screening.
In addition, more than 20,000 menstrual hygiene kits have been distributed across urban slums, government schools, and underserved communities. These kits include sanitary pads, hygiene wipes, and informational brochures in regional languages-helping break taboos and encourage healthy practices among adolescent girls.
“We’re not just fighting a disease, we’re fighting a lack of awareness and stigma that keeps women from seeking help,” said Seema Singh. “Our goal is to make every woman in India aware, informed, and empowered to take control of her health.”
Through rallies, free screening camps, mobile health vans, and community workshops, Singh’s initiative is reaching deep into areas where healthcare access is limited. Her campaign has already drawn praise from public health experts and civic authorities, with plans underway to expand it to other states.
With ‘Cervical Cancer Free India,’ Seema Singh is leading a nationwide movement-one that is saving lives, creating awareness, and giving women and girls the right to a healthier future.
