In a spectacular celebration of music, legacy, and artistic innovation, internationally acclaimed composer Rajeev Mahavir officially launched his Los Angeles-based music label, SUR Music, in India. The grand event, steeped in melody and emotion, brought together iconic names from the Indian music and film fraternity.
The evening was graced by some of the country’s most revered legends-Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Padmashri Hariharan, Javed Ali, Roop Kumar Rathod, filmmaker Rumy Jaffery, and Hon. Minister Shri Ashish Shelar-who joined hands to support this new chapter in global music storytelling.

Featuring the silken voice of Hariharan and marking the debut of Sohini Dey, whose stirring vocals left the audience spellbound, the track is a celebration of heartfelt romance and classical finesse.
Co-founded by Suvarna Pappu, an accomplished U.S.-based entrepreneur and creative producer, SUR Music is built on the mantra of being “Passionately Original.” With a vision to fuse Indian classical roots with modern cinematic expression, the label aims to become a haven for diverse, meaningful music that transcends boundaries.
A unique highlight of the event was the acknowledgment of the creative force behind the label-the Mahavir family: Sandip, Kaushal, Sameer, Yash, Malhar, Vaishnavi, and Jahnavi Mahavir-descendants of the illustrious Jaipur Gharana and torchbearers of Pt. K. Mahavir’s musical philosophy. Their involvement cements SUR Music’s foundation in deep-rooted tradition, artistic authenticity, and future-forward vision.
