In the heart of Santacruz, Mumbai, a new all-day café and bar is redefining what it means to dine, connect, and celebrate. Two Gud Sisters, founded by long-time friends turned co-founders Rinka Jha (Creative Director) and Rashmi Mishra (Culinary Curator), is more than just a dining destination it’s a community-driven space where comfort food, crafted coffee, and signature cocktails come together in a warm, design-led setting.

From working with celebrated MasterChef Abhinas Nayak on a menu that balances creativity with comfort, to curating interiors that seamlessly transition from day to night, the duo has poured heart and soul into creating a venue that feels like home. In this exclusive conversation with Mid-Day, Rinka and Rashmi share their journey, the philosophy behind Two Gud Sisters, and their vision for the brand’s future.

Q1. Tell us how Two Gud Sisters came to life.

Rinka Jha: Two Gud Sisters was born out of friendship first. Rashmi and I always bonded over food, design, and the idea of creating a space that felt like home. We wanted to bring that bond into a brand a place where people can walk in, unwind, and feel truly welcomed.

Rashmi Mishra: For us, food has always been about comfort and connection. We dreamt of a space that combined soulful hospitality with flavour-forward dishes, and that vision slowly took shape as Two Gud Sisters. It’s our way of turning a personal passion into a community-driven dining experience.

Q2. What inspired the name ‘Two Gud Sisters’?

Rashmi Mishra: The name reflects our journey two friends who became like sisters while chasing a shared dream. “Gud” in Hindi means jaggery, which is earthy, warm, and comforting just like what we wanted our space to feel like.

Rinka Jha: It’s playful yet rooted in culture. The name also captures our philosophy: simple joys, meaningful bonds, and experiences that leave a sweet aftertaste both literally and emotionally.

Q3. The interiors at Two Gud Sisters are striking. Can you tell us about the design?

Rinka Jha: I worked very closely with Rohit Sharma and Siddhartha Srivastava on the design. We wanted a blend of chic European influences with earthy tones and heritage accents, so the space feels stylish but still grounded.

Rashmi Mishra: The idea was to make it versatile. In the daytime, it’s bright and welcoming for coffee and conversations; by night, it transforms into a cosy bar with warmth and energy. Every corner is designed to tell a story, to make people want to linger.

Q4. How did the collaboration with MasterChef Abhinas Nayak come about?

Rashmi Mishra: Food was always central to our vision, so we wanted someone who could bring both creativity and comfort to the menu. Abhinas was the perfect fit his approach to food is rooted in tradition but full of innovation.

Rinka Jha: Together, we’ve created a menu that balances familiar classics with inventive twists. Dishes like the Puchka Pop and Jhol Momos are playful, while items like the Burrata Burst add a touch of sophistication. It’s comfort food, but reimagined.

Q5. What’s the philosophy behind your menu and bar program?

Rashmi Mishra: The food is designed to be flavour-led and soulful. We want guests to find their favourites but also be surprised by little creative touches. It’s food that feels like a hug, but with a twist that keeps it exciting.

Rinka Jha: The bar follows the same principle. It’s not just about cocktails; it’s about curated experiences. From crafted coffee to signature drinks, the idea is to make every sip and every plate feel special.

Q6. What sets Two Gud Sisters apart in Mumbai’s dining scene?

Rinka Jha: It’s the spirit of community. We wanted a space where you don’t just eat and leave, but where you connect with people, with flavours, with the ambience. It’s less transactional, more experiential.

Rashmi Mishra: And it’s the balance of comfort and creativity. We’re not chasing trends; we’re creating a timeless experience where food, design, and hospitality come together to make people feel at home.

Q7. What’s your long-term vision for Two Gud Sisters?

Rashmi Mishra: We want to build a brand that goes beyond just being a café or bar. It’s about nurturing a community hosting conversations, collaborations, and experiences that bring people closer.

Rinka Jha: Our vision is to make Two Gud Sisters synonymous with comfort and creativity. Whether in Mumbai or beyond, we want people to think of us as a place that feels like home, wherever they are.
