Jabariya Jodi is based on the real-life practice of pakadwa shaadi, prevalent in certain places in India's heartland, where grooms are kidnapped by the bride's family and married off at gunpoint in order to avoid paying exuberant dowry.
Jabariya Jodi is set up in the backdrop of these forced weddings and explores an unusual romance between Sidharth and Parineeti. While Sidharth plays Abhay Singh, who helms the gang for groom kidnapping in Bihar, Parineeti will be seen as Babli Yadav, a feisty small-town girl.
Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra-starrer is an entertaining, quirky film that also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Sanjay Mishra, Jaaved Jaaferi, Neeraj Sood, Gopal Dutt and Chandan Roy Sanyal. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Shailesh R Singh, Jabariya Jodi is a Balaji Telefilms and Karma Media & Entertainment production and releases on August 2, 2019.
Sonakshi Sinha, who is also on a promotional spree of her upcoming film Khandaani Shafakhana, was clicked at a studio in Andheri, Mumbai.
Khandaani Shafakhana's director Shilpi Dasgupta feels that much of the problems related to sex can easily be resolved if we just talk about them. The film is all set to release on August 2. It also features Varun Sharma and rapper Badshah in key roles.
In an interview with mid-day, Sonakshi Sinha said: "The film is about Babita Bedi, who runs a sex clinic after she inherits it. I was surprised and wondered why they were approaching me for a film with a bold theme like this. If you see my track record, I have only done family entertainers. So, I was confused initially, but when they narrated the entire subject to me, I was floored."
