On the work front, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will be sharing the screen space for the very first time in Ayan Mukerji's fantasy drama, Brahmastra, a trilogy.
mid-day learned that Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing the character DJ in the Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt-starrer. A source revealed: "Ranbir plays a DJ who walks out of his house against his father's wishes. The story then traces his journey as he tries to fulfil his dreams and discovers his superpowers in the process."
It is also said that every character in the film possesses superpowers, with Ranbir Kapoor's character is to be believed to have the power to unleash fire from his palms. for the unversed, the actor has undergone training in various forms of martial arts for the role.
"The film has some high octane action sequences. Ranbir trained in traditional Indian martial arts, including Kalaripayattu and Varma Kalai, before the film went on floors in 2017," added the source revealing the details about Brahmastra.
Apart from Brahmastra, Alia Bhatt is also a part of Mahesh Bhatt's directorial venture Sadak 2, opposite Aditya Roy Kapur.
Sadak 2 is the sequel to Mahesh Bhatt's 1991-hit Sadak, which evolved around a taxi driver (Sanjay) trying to rescue the woman he loves (Pooja) from a brothel. It also featured Sadashiv Amrapurkar as Maharani, the brothel's owner, and Soni Razdan, Bhatt's wife. Sadak 2 will hit the theatres next year on July 10.
