The project, which will be helmed by Nacho Vigalondo, has been billed as 'Godzilla meets Lost In Translation'. Hathaway plays Gloria, a young woman who moves back to her hometown after losing her job and her fiancé.

On hearing reports of a giant lizard attacking Tokyo, she realises that she has a psychic connection with it. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria has to determine why her apparent insignificant existence has a colossal effect on the world's fate.

Anne Hathaway will next star in the Nancy Meyers comedy 'The Intern' as the head of a fashion website who hires Robert De Niro as an intern. She will also be seen in the Disney sequel 'Alice Through the Looking-Glass'.
