The African nation holds a special place in Jolie's heart: she gave birth to daughter Shiloh in Swakopmund, Namibia, in 2006.
"We want her to grow up with an understanding of her country of birth," Jolie, 35, explained of the endowment.

The sanctuary is home to mostly orphaned and injured animals that cannot be released back into the wild; it also offers luxury accommodations which raise money for conservation projects.

"We continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia," Jolie said. During the the family's visit, the Jolie-Pitt clan watched Dr Van Duuren heal a wild dog and even saw a leopard get released back into the wild.
