Los Angeles: Actor Idris Elba is reportedly in early talks to play the villain in 'Star Trek 3'.
Director by Justin Lin, the film will mark the return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin.
J.J. Abrams will produce the film along with Bryan Burke and David Ellison.
The film is expected to go on floors in June.
Details of Elba’s role are not yet revealed. Early rumours suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in the film as they have not had a full presence in previous instalments.
