Jones attended the 2016 Emmy Awards, which were held at the Microsoft Arena here on Sunday night, and bumped into him.
Mayer told Jones that he was going to pen a track about the actress but she had other ideas, reports ew.com.
Posting a photograph on Twitter of the pair, Jones wrote: "He said he want to write a song about me. I think he should have sex with me instead. Am I wrong?"
Mayer has dated a string of celebrities including Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
