Even a tough personal year can still end in financial gold. Though she had a rough year that included a messy divorce with cheating ex-husband Jesse James and raising adopted son Louis on her own, Sandra Bullock came out on top as the highest paid actress of the year, according to Forbes magazine.

Between June 2009 and June 2010, Bullock, 46, raked in $56 million from her box office hits The Blind Side and The Proposal. Forbes spoke with agents, producers, managers and lawyers to find out what the stars were paid for shooting their movies and the "back-end" pay they earned after their films were released in theatres. Forbes also factored in additional dollar amounts the stars may have earned from other projects like ad campaigns and fashion lines.
