Singer Enrique Iglesias returned to India after a decade and enthralled audiences in Mumbai with two back-to-back concerts this week. However, amid the excitement, multiple FIRs for phone theft were filed by the city police, as reported by concertgoers. At least 73 mobile phones, collectively worth Rs 23.85 lakh, were stolen during the pop singer’s jam-packed concerts on Wednesday and Thursday.

Police registered seven First Information Reports (FIRs) about the thefts, which took place at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Wednesday evening. The minimum ticket price for the concert was Rs 7,000.

The complainants in the theft cases included a makeup artist, hotelier, students, a journalist, and businessmen.

Fan throws phone at Enrique during performance

Even as phone thefts were reported, one enthusiastic fan voluntarily threw their phone at the artist during his performance. While Enrique was running across the stage, singing and dancing, a phone came flying toward him. Luckily, it didn’t hit him — and being a good sport, the Spanish singer-songwriter picked up the phone and took a selfie with it.

It will definitely be a selfie the fan cherishes for life. However, such acts can be dangerous and may injure performers. Fans must remain mindful and respect artists on stage to avoid accidents.

About the concert

The music icon captivated over 25,000 fans on Day 1 of his concert at the MMRDA Grounds with a 90-minute, high-energy performance featuring 19 of his chart-topping hits and fan favourites. Across the two-day event, Iglesias performed some of his biggest numbers, including Hero and Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You).

Fans were seen dancing, singing along, and recording unforgettable moments as Iglesias brought his signature passion and energy. The two-day concert, promoted and produced by EVA Live, marked his Mumbai debut. Many celebrities like Vidya Balan, Orry, Rubina Dilaik, Malaika Arora, Aditya Seal, Anushka Ranjan, Jackky Bhagnani, and Rakul Preet Singh were spotted at the concert on day 1.

Supporting acts included Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi and the electrifying EDM duo Progressive Brothers, who kept the crowd entertained with their dynamic performances.
