Unsurprisingly, a video of Shah Rukh Khan performing the auspicious kanyadaan at Farah Khan’s wedding to Shirish Kunder went viral.
Farah Khan reveals why SRK did her kanyaadan
For the unversed, during Farah’s wedding with Shirish, Shah Rukh Khan performed the kanyadaan for her along with his wife, Gauri Khan. The ritual is usually performed by the bride's parents or guardians. A video from 2004 is now going viral on social media.
In the viral clip, Farah Khan and Shirish are getting married as Shah Rukh Khan, like an elder guardian, performs the kanyadaan ritual. As this clip surfaced, a user commented on it and claimed, “This is not kanyadaan and Farah had a brother and mother at that time." This comment caught Farah’s attention, and she slammed the user, asking them to be mindful.
Farah reacted to the comment and wrote, “In Mangalore, only a married couple can do the kanyadaan… please be careful when you talk nonsense." This comment of Farah’s has received support from netizens who backed her claims.
In the video, Farah is seen donning a minimalistic look with a pink-hued saree paired and a blue blouse. The bride left her tresses open and wore dangling earrings to complete her look. On the other hand, the groom, Shirish, complemented her in a white-hued kurta-pyjama.

Farah and Shah Rukh Khan are known to share a close bond. The two have joined forces multiple times on films, such as Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year.
While talking about her relationship with SRK, in an interview with The Indian Express, Farah had said, “Sometimes, you instantly hit it off with somebody. You feel like you’re friends from school. That’s what it was like with Shah Rukh. We had the same interests, we’d read the same books, we had the same sense of humour."
