Brazilian supermodel and James Bond fame Alessandra Ambrosio made her India debut as the showstopper, walking in two glamorous ensembles that blended Indian craftsmanship with global couture
Alessandra Ambrosio Manish Malhotra
Designer Manish Malhotra turned heads and changed runway norms by presenting a couture party on Day 4 of Hyundai India Couture Week, a first for the event. Alessandra Ambrosio, a Brazilian supermodel, James Bond fame and former Victoria's Secret Angel, made her India debut as the showstopper for the designer's new collection in two ensembles, adding a global edge to the glittering evening.
Alessandra Ambrosio exemplified the ideal balance of Indian workmanship and couture beauty as she walked the runway in two signature Manish Malhotra costumes. This vision represented the designer's characteristic maximalist aesthetic. Her caption on Instagram read, "Namaste, Bharat, Walking for the legendary @manishmalhotra05 @manishmalhotraworld @manishmalhotrajewellery — an emotion in every thread. First time in this magical country, and already feeling the love, the beauty, the energy. Grateful, inspired, and in awe. Until we meet again.."
Alessandra's first look for the Coutour Week
Alessandra's first look reinvented the classic saree with a distinct modern twist. The look was anchored by a sculpted bralette-style top with a plunging sweetheart neckline and strappy embellishments. The fitting mermaid-cut skirt, contoured to suit her figure, was finished with a rhinestone-studded drape flowing over one shoulder, evoking the silhouette of a classic palla.
Statement diamond jewellery boosted the ensemble, with a dramatic necklace, earrings, rings, and an intricately made haath phool adding a rich Indian touch. The precise styling, which included a centre-parted bun and subtle dewy makeup, emphasised the outfit's glam.
Her second look at the ramp of the Indian Couture Week 2025
Alessandra made her second appearance wearing a stunning cocktail lehenga adorned with pearls and crystals. The voluminous A-line skirt sparkled with embellishments, and the strapless bustier blouse had a dramatic plunging neckline and sculpted peplum waist.
To complement the ethereal white-and-silver tones, she wore a ruby-and-diamond choker, matching earrings, and a dainty maang teeka for a regal touch. Once again, the slicked-back bun and glowing nude-glam makeup highlighted the ensemble's rich textures.
Manish Malhotra's couture celebration during India Couture Week was sprawled across two halls at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. While the first hall hosted the fashion show, the second hall paid homage to Bollywood's most memorable fashion moments.
