The Hannah Montana 20-year reunion special saw Miley Cyrus revisit her time on the iconic Disney show. The singer, who auditioned at age 11, began filming the series at 13. The show became a sensation not just in the US but across the globe, and for an entire generation of fans, the reunion special was a nostalgic return to childhood memories. During the episode, Miley also opened up about her dating life while filming the series.
Miley on dating Nick Jonas
Hannah Montana featured several special cameos over the years, including an appearance by the Jonas Brothers in Season 2. Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas appeared in a special episode and performed alongside Hannah Montana. In the reunion episode, Miley revealed that she went on tour with the band at the time because she was dating the youngest brother, Nick.
Miley shared that the Jonas Brothers opened for her during the 2007 Best of Both Worlds Tour, largely because she wanted Nick around. The band landed the opening act for the iconic tour as Miley didn’t want to be away from her boyfriend.
“I’d be like, ‘OK, well, I will go on tour if my boyfriend can come.’ And they’re like, ‘Cute, have your boyfriend open for the show.’ Boom,” Miley recalled, admitting she simply wanted Nick by her side.
The Jonas Brothers not only opened the tour but also performed their duet “We Got the Party” with Miley, who appeared both as herself and her alter ego Hannah Montana during the show.
Miley and Dylan dating phase
During the reunion, Miley also spoke about her romance with Dylan Sprouse, who starred in the Disney show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Both Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody had a crossover episode, which also featured cast members from Wizards of Waverly Place, starring Selena Gomez.
Talking about her dating phase with Dylan, Miley said, “I secretly… okay, Dylan Sprouse was my boyfriend. I think he was the cutest.” When host Alex Cooper asked if she really dated him, Miley confirmed, “Yeah, that was my boyfriend. I think maybe it was rumored, but it’s true. Confirmed! Dylan was my crush. Their dad would take us to sushi. I was into the whole culture. It was a two-for-one — like, bring the brother. Hello!”
Back in 2008, when Dylan was 16, he briefly spoke about his relationship with Miley. He said he was “probably” around 11 or 12 when they dated.
“It’s hard to remember. We met on her set, I believe, and we dated. And then Nick Jonas walked by — and then it was over,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he appeared with his twin brother Cole Sprouse.
