According to reports, Ramya, along with her lawyer, has collated all the messages she received on her social media handles and submitted them as part of the complaint.
"It's pathetic, and it's also very sad because abusing women has become the norm, and they're getting away with it," she commented, expressing concern over the impact on women’s self-respect and credibility.
Ramya has been quite vocal about the growing trend of online abuse aimed at public figures. Speaking about online trolling culture, Ramya told India Today, "It's pathetic, and it's also very sad because abusing women has become the norm, and they're getting away with it. The first thing they do when women speak up is try to assassinate her character."
‘No difference between Darshan’s fans and Renukaswamy’s actions’
Kannada actor Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, as an accused in the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga. Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered for passing derogatory comments about Darshan’s associate, Pavithra Gowda.
Talking about the abuse she had been facing, Ramya recalled some of the comments, which said, “Instead of Renukaswamy, you should have been murdered.” She added, “They issued rape and death threats. And the usual cuss words. I realised there is no difference between what Renukaswamy did and what his fans are doing.”
