Days after the tragic incident, the Chennai Police received a bomb threat targeting actor Vijay’s residence in Neelankarai, Chennai. Reportedly, the police received the call from Kanyakumari on the emergency number 100. The caller warned that a bomb would be planted at Vijay’s home if he held any public meetings in the future. The Karur stampede occurred during a rally held by the TVK chief.
Security heightened at Vijay's residence
According to reports, the police have launched an investigation and are currently tracing the caller’s exact location and identity. Meanwhile, security around Vijay’s house has been tightened. This is the second such bomb threat that the actor has received since the Karur stampede. The police had earlier received a similar threat on September 29.

Forty-one people died and at least 60 were injured in the stampede during Tamil actor Vijay’s political rally in Karur on September 27. As per the state police, a crowd of around 30,000 people gathered at a venue that had a capacity of about 10,000. Security guidelines were reportedly violated, and proper arrangements for food and drinking water were unavailable — all of which contributed to the tragedy.
A day after the incident, actor Vijay announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the families of those killed and Rs 2 lakh for those injured. His statewide tour was also suspended.
Vijay’s reaction to the tragedy
On the night of the stampede, Vijay made his first public statement about the deadly incident that occurred during his rally in Karur, expressing his condolences to the victims’ families. “My heart is shattered; I am writhing in unbearable, indescribable pain and sorrow that words cannot express,” he said in his first statement. “I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur. I pray for the swift recovery of those receiving treatment in the hospital.”
He later also posted a video sharing his anguish over the tragedy and also hinted at political sabotage.
