Ghaziabad police recently arrested Haryanvi film director and actor Uttar Kumar from his farmhouse in Amroha on Sunday morning on charges of sexual exploitation of an actress. Police teams acting under the instructions of Additional Police Commissioner Alok Priyadarshi reportedly raided the premises around 4:30 am and apprehended the accused while he was asleep.

A police team reportedly conducted a raid at around 4:30 am and apprehended Kumar while he was asleep. DCP Trans Hindon, Nimish Patil, confirmed the news of the arrest and stated that Uttar Kumar is being brought to Ghaziabad for further legal proceedings. Police sources further added that Kumar’s health deteriorated soon after being taken into custody, reportedly due to fear of imprisonment. He was shifted to a private hospital for treatment. The further proceedings will resume after his health is stable.

Victim attempts suicide outside the CM's residence

Notably, the arrest comes nine days after the victim, an actress who hails from Hapur and currently resides in Noida's Sector 53, attempted to immolate herself outside the Chief Minister's residence in Lucknow

The woman alleged that her professional relationship with Uttar Kumar started in August 2020, when they met while working in the Haryanvi film and music industry. She alleged that Kumar promised her prominent roles in future projects, including a lead role in a regional film in 2023.

On 24 June 2025, the victim submitted a written complaint at the Shalimar Garden Police Station in Ghaziabad, claiming serious misconduct and sexual exploitation. However, she claimed that no First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the time. After she approached the High Court, an FIR was officially registered nearly a month later, on the court's order.

The actress alleged that even after the FIR was registered no immediate action was taken. She stated that she even shared the accused's whereabouts with the police multiple times; however, no steps were taken to locate or detain him.

Frustrated with the lack of progress, the victim travelled from Noida to Lucknow on September 6 and attempted to stage a dramatic protest near the Chief Minister's residence. She approached the Tango-1 barricade, located around 500 meters from the CM's residence, and tried to take her file using a flammable substance. The police personnel on duty responded swiftly, intervened, and avoided the incident.
