While many people work in acing their fashion game on point, there are a few exceptions who work towards bringing the unique fashion trends to life. In the last few years, the fashion industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Setting an example with her exemplary work is Karishma Gulati, a highly experienced fashion designer and celebrity costume stylist based in Mumbai. The ace fashion designer has worked in the Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu film industries and has gained experience of more than a decade in the industry. 


Having pursued her studies from the coveted NIFT, Mumbai, Karishma kickstarted her career as an assistant costume designer in 2011. Gaining experience and understanding the fundamentals of the fashion industry, Karishma began working as an independent costume designer in 2012 with the film Shootout At Wadala. Since then, Gulati has never looked back and has worked as a costume designer for an array of films like Ek VillainVeere Di WeddingTotal DhamaalBaaghi 3 among other films. More so, Karishma in her spectacular career has worked for more than 200 brand campaigns, commercials and web series for major OTT players.  


For Karishma, fashion is all about being comfortable first. “I believe to be at your fashionably best, you must implement 3 C’s in life – Comfort, Convenience and Confidence”, quotes the fashion designer. More so, Karishma shares men look effortlessly uber cool in basics. Any tee paired with denims and a jacket is the most subtle outfit for men’s fashion. Along with it, streetwear has gained a lot of momentum in recent times and will continue to be in trends for men. On the other hand, the celebrity stylist says that separates have been dominating the women’s fashion industry. “Crop tops, jumpsuits, Indian ethnic wear and floral prints are ruling the roast for quite a long time now”, adds Karishma.


When asked to share some style tips, Karishma suggests that the first and foremost thing is to check if the outfits fit perfectly. “Playing with colours, mixing patterns and matching accessories with outfits go hand in hand. Such things should be paid close attention as it can make or break one’s style statement”, reveals Karishma Gulati. As far as celebrity styling goes, the designer is a personal stylist to Bollywood couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh. Apart from this, she has styled many celebrities including Juhi Chawla, Saiyami Kher, Sonu Sood, Sidharth Malhotra, Farhan Akhtar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli. 

Besides her successful run as a fashion stylist, Karishma Gulati owns a self-care brand named ‘Miss Kaey’. It is a health and skincare brand that is made from organic and natural ingredients. Moving with time, and creating style trends of her own is what makes her the most preferred name among celebrities. An ultimate foodie and animal lover that she is, Karishma is an avid traveller and loves to explore new places and cultures. With the events starting at a radical pace after the COVID-19 pandemic, she has got several celebrity events and is simultaneously working on a multi-starrer web show.
