We often say that the society we live in needs to change with time. The essence of this change lies in focusing all the energy not on fighting the old, but on developing the new. Social change happens when individuals change themselves. Gradually, it newly weaves the fabric of the society they live in. Though we may not believe it, it is indeed a fact that many young people in India are being the change they wish to see in society. One such young boy who is carrying out social activism from his heart is Monu Patel.

Monu Patel is a dashing personality from Narsinghpur, a small village in the district of Gotegaon, Madhya Pradesh. His full name is Mani Nagendra, Singh Patel. Monu Patel is a passionate social worker. He had started to pick up the threads of social activism right from a young age. The freedom fighter of India and many known social activists are his ideals.

Monu Patel can always be seen working for the needy and the poor. Despite being the son of MLA, he never really thinks his work to be demeaning by any means. Instead, he considers it to be a great deed and makes sure he helps as many people as he can. Change in society and public thinking is his objective and he strives hard to fulfill them. Monu Patel never backs down from being of assistance to those in need. He is ever-ready to provide financial, medical, and other types of help to those who come to him.

To date, he has steered many social welfare activities. Some of them include campaigns to fight discrimination, issues such as untouchability, and many more. Monu Patel has never failed to become the voice of the unheard in society. He acts as a channel to raise issues that many people face yet never bother to speak of. He has also carried out some sports activities for the local youth to realize their talent. In January, a Pro Kabbadi event was organized by Monu Patel and the sports ministry where he was seen praising the young talent in his district. He also distributed tracksuits and T-shirts to all the volunteers in a Leadership Development Camp held at Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur. This way he makes sure that there will be more people like him shortly.

Monu Patel often engages himself in open public hearings where he tries to understand and solve the issues that the general public faces. In one such public hearing, he provided financial aid of Rs. 10000 to Akash Mehra a student who was excelling in his curricular activities. He has been a part of many such hearings and has always proved helpful. As a young social activist, he often tries to bring the youth into the social activism field. He believes only by uniting the youth can we march towards becoming a developed nation.

Monu Patel seems to have found his purpose in life: to help those in need. He is always seeking ways to provide better education and employment opportunities to the local and national youth. Just like all social activists, his life too was filled with challenges and setbacks, but he never let them get to him. He always pushed forward and today he is seen as a rising political identity in the nation. What India needs right now are more individuals like Monu Patel.
