With over 350 pictures, and talks and workshops by experts, a photography exhibition celebrates nature in all its glory

Bent on all fours, with the mind focussed on being inconspicuous, and eyes trained on the subject — every wildlife photographer will vouch for the fact that the perfect shot is nothing but a waiting game. The city’s nature lovers can now gaze at over 350 such shots contributed by professional and amateur photographers from across India and the world at DCP Expeditions’ third annual Wildlife, Nature and Travel Photography Exhibition.

“This year, we have scaled up the exhibition such that it is more like a three-day seminar. With photographs showcased across three galleries, we hope to support our members, who usually don’t get a platform to present their work,” says Dr Caesar Sengupta, founder of DCP Expeditions, a photography training academy. “Wildlife photography is often associated with majestic tigers and elephants, but we wanted to showcase nature in all its forms. We have also included a new category for travel photography this year with the focus on lesser-known places,” he elaborates.

Photography enthusiasts can also participate in free workshops spread across the second and third days. While Nayan Khanolkar, educator, naturalist and BBC Wildlife Photographer of 2016 will speak on urban leopards and conservation photography, ace macro photographer Yuwaraj Gurjar will conduct a session on his area of expertise.

Noted Singaporean portrait photographer Shannon Heng will host a workshop on the art of botanical portraiture. And for those who are fascinated by butterflies, Isaac Kehimkar, known as the Butterfly Man of India, will talk about the winged beauties of Mumbai, whose population in Sanjay Gandhi National Park exceeds that of the UK.
