The incident took place in a slum in Mancheswar area of the city Saturday night. A day later, the local residents nabbed the offender and handed over him to police.
Sukalal Soren, 22, who lives in the same slum lured the girl when she was playing with her friends.
He took her to his house and allegedly raped her, Sarojini Nayak, inspector in charge of Mahila police station (women police station) told IANS.
Soren was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim's father. He would be produced before a court Monday, Nayak said.u00a0
